What would you do to deal with global "Globalisation" in 10 or 20 more years?
What
Is Globalisation?
“Globalization or globalisation
is the process of interaction and integration between people,
companies, and governments worldwide.
Globalization has grown due to advances in transportation and communication technology.
With increased global interactions comes the growth of international trade, ideas, and culture. Globalization is primarily an economic
process of interaction and integration that's associated with social and
cultural aspects. However, conflicts and diplomacy are also large parts of the history of globalization,
and modern globalization.”
How to deal with it for the next ten to
twenty years more?
The world is
Constantly progressing in many aspects. Even when you are resting at the time
while reading my post, there always someone out there across the globe creating
something that will affect the world. That is the world we live in right now. A
world with 7.442
billion peoples in it. They live, work, and die just like the rest of us do in
this side of the world.
With the continuous
changing of the world. We cannot just standstill and watch all of the things
that happening. Because the world need people that think creatively,
critically, innovatively, and the ability to connect.
The world economy is
facing many drastic changes and every country around the world gets it impact.
Including my country that I lived in. My country is progressing in many
different ways from all of the changes in the world economy. From the fourth
kind of the industrial revolution that was coming into my country. And the
technological advances in many aspects of our life that influence the way we
live and do business with other people.
Maybe you are
thinking that how the technological advances will give a such great impact to
our society. Well, let me give you some example: 50 to 25 years ago is the
golden time of the innovation that changes the way human kind lives. How is
that happening? For example, 50 to 25 years ago is a very normal condition for
people to not have a phone. Even on the late eighties, because at the time
phones are considered to be a luxurious item. And hasn’t become a need for our
daily life. But right now, most of us have a handphone in our life because of
various reasons. And it’s already become a need for people that live on this 21st
century.
And that example just
shows us how things can change easily. The world you know today may changes at
a glimpse of an eye. And it is up to you to prepare yourself. Before
I show you the way to prepare for the upcoming globalisation let’s talk about
the 4th kind of industrial revolution or “Industry 4.0”
Industry 4.0 is not just one of these trending buzzwords. It will change the way manufacturing companies run and will dramatically affect the global business environment. In 20 years, it will be the norm for conducting business and creating value for our customers. Each of us will have to learn a different skill set to succeed in this changing world of employment.
So how industry 4.0 will look alike?
Automation is Going to Replace Certain Types of Jobs
According to CNN, some of the world's biggest companies are investing billions to build robots to replace human workers. The Wall Street Journal recently published an article discussing utilization of artificial intelligence to automate workforce management tasks, enabling one person to manage many more workers than before. The potential for automation differs dramatically across sectors and activities. However, jobs that are repetitive and low-skill like predictable physical work, data collection and data processing are the ones with the highest potential for automation.
After you know what is “Industry 4.0”. Now you have to know how to deal with it.
1. Build your "Innovative muscle". Opportunities are not in things but in the eye of the beholder. Look for new and fresh ways to do things in order to benefit the organization. Here is a great idea: start exploring for potential applications of manufacturing 4.0 in your own role or department. This can position you as innovative enough.
2. Focus on being creative. Start with one "creative" hour a week. You can do it by yourself or with a team, as long you are thinking about creative ideas. Unlike the innovation paragraph below, creative ideas can be recycled, even from within the organization.
3. Adjust yourself to face better with changes. Learn to adapt to the dynamic environment Industry 4.0 brings with it. Be ready to shift focus and tasks (and yes, sometimes also your position in the organization) at a glance, without drama.
4. Focus on your leadership skills. You don’t necessarily have to have a large team reporting to you to be considered as a leader. Some people are natural leaders, but anyone can develop this skill set with some practice.
5. Focus on your people skills. People with good interpersonal skills tend to interact better with people and communicate effectively with others. This is a vital competency in every workplace but will be even more important in organization adopting industry 4.0.
That are some ways for you to deal with the “industry 4.0”. But if your question is what I should do to face the upcoming globalisation as a student right now. Then rest assure because me “Richard Gilbert Sufiady” will give you some advice.
2. Try to be a leader. If you want to have your own company in the
future. This advice will help a lot. You can start to become the leader of your
group. For example. Like the leader of your study group, the leader of your
class/class representative, or even you can be the leader of the student
council of your school.
That’s all from me, thank you.
